The Roswell, New Mexico, police department just dropped $86,000 on 3D scanners that can capture 3D images of a crime scene, which can be used as evidence in court. The images are accurate down to a few millimeters. That’s a much higher resolution than the relatively cheap handheld and desktop scanners that have hit the market lately.
