Sponsored post: EC VP to launch final EU app economy event

Results from the Eurapp study of the EU app economy will be presented at an event in Brussels on Feb. 13. The event will be launched by Neelie Kroes, the VP of the European Commission and Commissioner for the Digital Agenda in Europe.

“We will be presenting some interesting results to policy makers in Brussels, including a profile of the types of jobs being created by the EU app economy, and the balance of trade for apps in the EU,” says John Breslin from NUI Galway, who leads the Eurapp project. “We will also use participatory sessions so that attendees can discuss the results with various stakeholders, and propose new policies to address challenges and support emerging opportunities.”

Other speakers include: Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka, who leads the marketing and brand strategy for the Angry Bird video game franchise, one of the EU’s top app success stories, and totalCommerce CEO Simon Schaefer, the founder of the Factory, a 16,000-square meter campus for startups and tech companies in Berlin. Gigaom Research VP David Card will present the main outcomes of the study report.

Eurapp is being run by the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at NUI Galway and Gigaom Research, and the project was launched last year by the European Commission as part of its Digital Agenda: Startup Europe initiative.

Gigaom readers are invited to take part in the event. Registration for the event is free, but places are limited. More information at http://eurapp.eu.
